Bahrain have been given a favourable draw in the upcoming Asian World Cup Qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Finals.
Bahrain have been drawn against two unseeded teams - to be determined in September - and neighbouring UAE, in Group H.
The unseeded teams will be the eventual winners of knockout matches - Laos vs Nepal and Yemen vs Sri Lanka. The draw was held at the AFC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Bahrain’s group is the only one of eight to have two unseeded teams featured at this stage of the competition.
The group stage starts in October.
Eight teams will qualify automatically to the World Cup Finals and one will play a regional play-off to grab a place in a continental fixture against another confederation’s successful third place regional play-off country.
The FIFA World Cup Finals will be staged in Canada, Mexico and the US in the summer of 2026.
