A video of an alleged criminal making a run for it after an officer removed his restraints in the courtroom has gone viral.
The incident was caught on CCTV cameras and posted online by the Washington County Sheriff's Department, showing Edi Villalobos sprinting out of the courtroom.
The 28-year-old was brought to the courthouse during the jury selection process after he was charged with the 2021 murder of 33-year-old Artemio Guzman-Olvera.
The clip shows two officers escorting him to the courtroom and as soon as he is free of the handcuffs and shackles, he races out, only to be caught two hours later in an empty apartment.
Drones, K-9 units and two local police departments were dispatched to catch the suspect, who was caught after a tip-off from a resident in an apartment complex on the 300 block of Southeast 4th Avenue.
