AN ankle monitor was used for the first time in Bahrain as alternative punishments were adopted last year.
A total of 216 cases were prosecuted last year using the Alternative Punishments Law, which was adopted in early 2018 and enforces alternative sentences such as community service, house arrest or rehabilitation programmes .
