Title holders Muharraq have been drawn to face third-placed team of Division Two in the first round of games of His Majesty the King’s Cup.
The draw ceremony took place yesterday at the Police Club at the Ministry of Interior. It was attended by Bahrain Football Association (BFA) president Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, general secretary of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) Abdulrahman Askar and CEO of Romai Sporting Company Khamis Al Rumaithi.
Bahraini players Saeed Johar, Mohammed Jassim Moftah, Alaa Hubail, Ali Khamis and Abdul Majeed Shahram drew the teams out of the pots.
Muharraq claimed the title last season beating Riffa 3-1 in the final.
In other matches, Al Hidd meet East Riffa while last season’s finalist Riffa take on Al Najma.
Placed-second in the league this year, Manama will be happy to face last-placed Bahrain Club, who are yet to win a game this season.
Eighth-placed Al Hala meet ninth-placed Al Malkiya while Al Ahly tackle a qualifier.
Speaking after the draw ceremony, Shaikh Ali expressed his delight over the work the BFA have done in the past four years, including the successful hosting of the Under-19 Asian Youth Championship.
The BFA will announce at a later time the dates and venues of the matches.
