JUDO – BAHRAIN’S judo national team claimed the bronze medal in the kata competition of the Arab Judo Championship, held in Amman, Jordan.
The competition witnessed the participation of 450 male and female athletes representing 17 Arab nations.
The team, comprising Abdulla Al Kuwari and Moayed Al Doseri, earned third place following a strong performance in a highly competitive kata event. The Qatari team secured gold, while the Kuwaiti team were the runners-up.
Bahrain Judo Federation (BJF) president Faisal Khalid Kanoo praised the national team’s result in what marked its first external participation in kata competitions. He commended the technical level demonstrated by the athletes, noting that this achievement adds to the growing record of accomplishments by Bahrain.
Kanoo added that the BJF remains committed to further advancing the sport, aiming to build on these successes and contribute to the kingdom’s progress in combat sports.
He highlighted the support provided to the sports sector under the leadership of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
He also commended the continued oversight by GSA vice-chairman and Bahrain Combat Sports Council president Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, whose efforts have raised the standard of national sports federations and helped athletes achieve results that strengthen Bahrain’s position on the continental and international sports map.
