CYCLING – TEAM Bahrain Victorious rider Pello Bilbao secured a top five finish in the 19th Strade Bianche yesterday in Italy.
The prestigious event was a one-day race on the 2025 UCI WorldTour calendar.
Bilbao completed the 213-kilometre course, which started and finished in the city of Siena, in fifth place, just four minutes behind race winner Tadej Pogacar of UAE Team Emirates-XRG. Pogacar triumphed in a time of five hours 13 minutes 58 seconds.
Bilbao delivered a brilliant ride on the iconic white roads of Tuscany to lead two Bahrain Victorious teammates on the final classification. Afonso Eulalio followed in 46th place and Nicolo Buratti was in 98th overall.
The trio of Andrea Pasqualon, Robert Stannard, and Max van der Meulen did not finish, while Matej Mohoric did not start after feeling unwell, said the team.
