RUGBY – BAHRAIN’S First XV lock horns today with the Dubai Hurricanes First XV in 2024-25 Men’s West Asia Super Rugby.
The game is scheduled for a 2pm kick-off and it will be played at Bahrain Rugby Football Club (BRFC) in Saar.
BRFC has announced the squad list, which includes Dan Mau’u, Matt McKee, Lindsey Gibson, Henk Gouws, Awethu Lushozi, Aleo Morris, Charlie Farmer, Rory Drummond, Romeo Eksteen, Cormac Fox, Josh Petro, James Newey, Jack Phillips, Dai Evans, Josh Drain, Mackenzie Oliver, Henry Paul, Nick Young, Tian Jacobs, Dylan Vermeulen, Deina Morete, Greg Heath, and Joel Kidgell.
Adam Wallace is the BRFC rugby director and Ross Preedy is the backs coach.
Bahrain’s game against the Hurricanes will be streamed live on the BRFC channel on YouTube.
Bahrain have so far won all nine of their Men’s West Asia Super Rugby matches, including a top-of-the-table clash against the Dubai Exiles First XV last week at BRFC. The kingdom’s representatives remain atop the standings with 43 points, ahead of the Exiles who are on 36. The Hurricanes follow in third place with 34 points, having taken seven wins in their 10 matches to date.
The Abu Dhabi Harlequins First XV are in fourth place with four wins, four defeats, and one draw for 25 points. They are followed by the Dubai Dragons First XV on 20 points, the Doha First XV on six points, and the Dubai Sharks First XV on five points to complete the eight-team table.
Meanwhile, Bahrain’s Second XV will be playing in the quarter-finals of Men’s UAE Division One Rugby today against the Barrelhouse First XV.
The match will be played at Tigers Park in Dubai, and it is scheduled for a 4pm kick-off, Bahrain time.
Bahrain’s Second XV roster includes Dylan Pieterse, Martin Prinsloo, Cameron Thomson, Keaton Shedden, Talal Al Shariff, George Swinton, Saul Piper, Dan Searle, Josh De Beer, Dan Dryden, Matt Richards, Matt Barnett, Chris Kropp, Diego Hernandez, Joel Lewis, Cooper Comrie, Brandon Bourgeois, Gerhard Cronje, Alex Stones, Jaun Coetsee, Cole Crawford, and James Wheeler.
The Second XV coach is Jack Parry.
