BASKETBALL – THREE-TIME defending champions Manama cruised past Al Ettihad 82-57 in their round 12 clash of the 2024-25 Zain Bahrain Basketball League.
The Premier League contest was played at Zain Basketball Arena in Um Al Hassam.
Manama raced out to a commanding 27-13 lead at the end of the first quarter, which they stretched to 47-22 heading into the break, having held Ettihad to single digits in the second period.
Manama continued their strong play in the third and were up 64-40 heading into the final frame. There, they took their biggest lead of the night of 29 points on two occasions – first with an Ali Jaber lay-up that made it 71-42 and then on a Chad Brown dunk that put Manama ahead 79-50 with just three minutes to play in the game.
Brown finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds to pace Manama, who had all 12 of their players step onto the hardwood. Hasan Nowrooz added 15 and Jaber finished with 14 while Subah Hussain scored 10 as their fourth player in double figures.
For Ettihad, who never led in the game, Nasser Almosawi scored 22 points while Sayed Mohammed Hameed added 14.
With the result, Manama claimed their 10th victory In 11 games. They handed Ettihad their Premier League-worst 12th defeat as they remained winless in last place on the six-team table.
League action continues tonight with two games on schedule. Title contenders Muharraq and Al Ahli lock horns at 9pm, also in the Premier League, followed by a League B affair between Sitra and Nuwaidrat at 11pm.
