Makkah: Volunteering at the Grand Mosque is both an honour and an act of worship, combining the service of visitors and Umrah performers with the pursuit of great rewards from Almighty Allah.
During the holy month of Ramadhan, organisations and teams registered with the National Volunteer Portal are invited to contribute their services to enhance the comfort and experience of visitors and Umrah performers across various fields. Through their dedication, volunteers help present an honorable image of humanitarian work in the holiest place on earth, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has outlined that various entities and institutions can contribute to serving visitors at the Grand Mosque, with eligible participants including government agencies, private endowments, charitable organizations, and volunteer teams licensed by the National Volunteer Portal.
Volunteering opportunities at the Grand Mosque cover various areas aimed at enhancing visitors' experiences. These include assisting with crowd management, organising Iftar meals, and providing wheelchair assistance for the elderly and individuals with disabilities. Additionally, volunteers offer spatial guidance to help visitors navigate the mosque and provide first aid when needed.
Individuals interested in volunteering can visit the National Volunteer Portal to explore and select suitable opportunities to serve at the Grand Mosque.
The authority is dedicated to enhancing volunteer work at the Grand Mosque, ensuring it embodies the spirit of hospitality during Ramadan.
By empowering volunteers to provide high-quality services that reflect generosity and cooperation, these efforts align with Saudi Vision 2030 goals of promoting a culture of volunteering, increasing volunteer participation, and fostering sustainable social impact.
