The Juraflore Company, specialising in French cheese, has cooked a massive fondue at the Fort des Rousses in the village of Les Rousses, earning the Guinness World Record title for the largest cheese fondue!
The immense dipping feast, which consisted of 40 wheels of comté cheese that had been matured for 9, 15, and 21 months respectively, was held in a gigantic copper cauldron.
The chefs then spiced up the fondue with 4.4 pounds of garlic, 3.3 pounds of white pepper, 121 pounds of corn starch, and white wines. The cheesy mixture was churned using a gigantic food processor for a smooth, final finish.
The dense concoction weighed a mighty 4,800 pounds and exceeded the goal weight of 4,495 pounds.
An adjudicator from the Guinness World Records witnessed the weighing and certified the new title for the most extensive cheese record, which surpassed the 3,175-pound serving previously established by Switzerland in 2009.
