VOLLEYBALL – Bahrain have risen 10 places to 58th in the FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Ranking, issued by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), the sport’s governing body.
The kingdom’s senior men’s national team have 43.12 ranking points.
Amongst teams in the Asian Volleyball Confederation, the Bahrainis are 14th best.
Japan are the continent’s top squad being ranked sixth in the world, followed by Iran who are 15th in the world and Qatar who are 21st.
The Qataris are also the only other Gulf team classified higher than Bahrain.
Poland are the world’s number one team, followed by France, the US, Slovenia, and Italy in the top five.
Bahrain Volleyball Association (BVA) president Major General Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa congratulated the national team on its standing and said that the rise is a result of the BVA’s strategy to intensify the national team’s participation in continental competitions.
This is with the aim of developing the Bahraini players’ skills and enhancing their experience at the top levels of the game.
