MOTORSPORT – Bahraini-British motor racing team 2 Seas Motorsport secured a solid top 10 finish yesterday in the fourth round of the 2024-25 Asian Le Mans Series (ALMS), held at Dubai Autodrome in the UAE.
The 2 Seas crew of American Anthony McIntosh, Canadian Parker Thompson, and Briton Ben Barnicoat claimed sixth place overall amongst the GT contenders in their #96 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
2 Seas, co-owned by Shaikh Isa bin Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, had earlier on Saturday captured an historic first-ever victory in the ALMS. They looked to carry over their momentum into yesterday’s event, and managed to gain a number of positions during the four-hour challenge after starting from 11th on the grid.
Taking the win in class were the #99 crew of Herberth Motorsport featuring Ralf Bohn, Alfred Renauer, and Robert Renauer in their Porsche 911 GT3 R. Winward Racing’s #81 crew of Luca Stolz, Gabriele Piana, and Rinat Salikhov in their Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo were the runners-up, while EBM’s Gabriel Rindone, Jamie Day, and Mattia Drudi in their #89 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 completed the GT podium.
The ALMS is the continent’s premier endurance racing championship. It is run by the organisers of the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans, and it features six races at three tracks this season.
Teams competing in the ALMS are not only gunning for championship glory, but also for invitations to race in Le Mans later this year – one of the biggest and most prestigious events in all of motorsport. The champions of both the LMP2 and GT classes will be awarded invites to be a part of the iconic event in France, which is a part of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship.
Following the completion of the Dubai Autodrome events, the season’s last two races are scheduled for next weekend at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi next weekend.
