PADEL – BAHRAIN will be hosting the first FIP Juniors Asian Padel Championships 2024, it was announced yesterday.
The event, scheduled from December 15 to 21, will be held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Sanctioned by the International Padel Federation (FIP) and to be supervised by the Asian Padel Federation, the competition will feature seven countries, including Japan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Kuwait, Lebanon and hosts Bahrain.
The competitors will be battling it out in three categories, namely the under-14, under-16, and under-18.
The event will be held at the Let’s Padel courts in Seef.
It will be the second major multi-nation padel event held in the kingdom, following the ISF Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024 in October. Padel was one of 26 sports that were played during the massive occasion, which saw more than 5,000 young athletes, both boys and girls, from over 80 countries taking part.
The preliminary phase of the FIP Juniors Asian Padel Championships 2024 will feature two groups, one with four teams and the other with three. The top two teams from each will advance to the semi-finals, while the remaining squads will compete for positions five through seven. The group stage will take place from December 17 to 19, followed by the semi-finals on December 20. The final will be held the following evening.
In addition to the main competition, the FIP Juniors Asian Padel Championships 2024 will also include a national pairs tournament, comprising 16 duos each in the under-14, under-16, and under-18 categories.
Shaikh Khalid stressed on the importance of the event, as it enhances Bahrain’s position in the international sporting arena, particularly in the sport of padel. Shaikh Khalid praised the kingdom’s hosting of the event, which contributes to refining the skills of young players and adding to their experience in the sport at the international level.
Shaikh Khalid expressed his great confidence in the Bahrain Padel Federation to organise the competition in cooperation with the FIP and Let’s Padel. He pointed out the importance of early preparation in order to complete all necessary arrangements for the event to be held in the best possible way.
