FOOTBALL – FOUR-time African Footballer of the Year Yaya Toure has joined the star-studded cast of players who will be participating in the ‘Unity Kickoff – Play for a Cause’ charity football match, which will be held in the kingdom early next year.
This was announced yesterday by organisers of the event, which will be held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The unforgettable celebration of sportsmanship and unity will be taking place on January 31 at the National Stadium in Riffa.
Toure will be part of the teams that will be taking to the pitch, who will be led by football icons John Terry (Team A Captain) and Roberto Carlos (Team B Captain).
Supporting them will be celebrated coaches Harry Redknapp for Team A and Bahrain national team tactician Dragan Talajic for Team B.
Toure and Bulgarian superstar Dimitar Berbatov are the latest additions to the line-up of star players. Additionally, the event will also feature influencers Jeremy Lynch and Bfendyy (Bilal), who will bring their energy and flair to this highly anticipated charity match.
‘Unity Kickoff’ brings together world-class talent, influencers, and celebrities, all united for a noble cause: supporting the Royal Humanitarian Foundation’s initiatives to improve education and combat poverty and hunger in rural countries.
