A man in Egypt, who wished to remain anonymous, intervened to stop the illegal marriage of a 15-year-old girl by tipping off the authorities about the incident.
The man called the National Council For Childhood and Motherhood on the emergency line and told them about a teenage girl whose father was marrying her off after getting a lawyer to issue a customary marriage contract.
The case was immediately referred to the public prosecution office and swift action was taken to save the girl. Moving to stop the marriage proceedings, police summoned all involved and denied the marriage with the case being referred to the Office of Child Protection.
