FOOTBALL – BAHRAIN’S Riffa take on Al Qadisiya of Kuwait tonight in the 2024-25 AGCFF Gulf Club Champions League.
The match will be played at the Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town and it is scheduled for a 6pm kick-off.
The pre-game technical meeting was held yesterday where the official kits that will be used by both teams were presented. Representatives from both sides were on hand, along with officials from the Arabian Gulf Cup Football Federation (AGCFF).
The Bahrainis will be facing the visitors for the first time in the competition’s preliminary phase. They had previously claimed a hard-earned 2-0 victory over Al Arabi of Qatar in their last outing held earlier this month. That result saw them bounce back from an opening 1-3 loss against Al Ettifaq of Saudi Arabia.
The Saudis sit atop their division table currently with six points, followed by Riffa with three, and Arabi and Qadisiya with one apiece.
Following this evening’s clash, Riffa will next fly to Kuwait City for their return match against Qadisiya on December 4. It will be their last fixture in the tournament this calendar year.
They resume their campaign in 2025 on February 5 at home against Ettifaq, before flying to Doha to wrap up their schedule against Arabi on February 18.
The AGCFF Gulf Club Champions League is organised and run by the AGCFF and it features eight teams in its inaugural season under its new format.
Group A is composed of Al Nasr of the UAE, Ahli Sanaa of Yemen, Dhofar of Oman, and Duhok of Iraq.
