A former TV photojournalist from Arizona, Samuel Mena Jr, shockingly set his arm on fire while attending the Washington DC pro-Palestinian protest on Saturday evening.
According to a statement from the DC Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A Smith, the man 'attempted to light himself on fire at around 5.45 pm'.
However, onlookers and members of the Metropolitan police department immediately stepped in to put out the flames.
Both Emergency Medical Services and DC fire team arrived on the scene to transport Mena "to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries", Chief Smith added.
Before the incident, Mena had posted on his social media platform X that he was going to do a live stream 'from the White House'.
