Team Bahrain Victorious riders Edoardo Zambanini and Matej Mohoric continued their impressive campaign in this year’s Tour de Pologne in Poland yesterday as they both placed in the top 10 in the race’s 156.5-kilometre third stage.
Zambanini took sixth place while Mohoric was eighth as they finished amongst the leaders’ group, which was spearheaded by stage winner Thibau Nys of Lidl-Trak team. He took first place with a time of four hours three minutes 21 seconds.
Bahrain Victorious’ Fred Wright followed in 30th place, while Pello Bilbao came 32nd. Amongst the team’s other riders, Andrea Pasqualon was 73rd, Lukasz Wisniowski 92nd, and Phil Bauhaus 136th.
With their strong finishes yesterday, Zambanini and Mohoric maintained their places in the top 10 of the race’s general classification in the battle for the yellow jersey. Zambanini was sixth and Mohoric eighth after three stages, with four to go.
In the points rankings for the green jersey, Mohoric dropped one place to seventh while Zambanini rose one position to eighth.
Bahrain Victorious remained as second-best on the teams’ rankings. They are still behind UAE Team Emirates, with the gap extending to three minutes and four seconds.
Today’s fourth stage will be over 195.3km, starting from Kudowa-Zdroj and ending at Prudnik.
This year’s Tour de Pologne covers 1,049.3km. It is a part of this year’s UCI World Tour, and it is the only race on the World Tour calendar between the Tour de France and the Vuelta a Espana.
