Alberto Bruttomesso was the best finisher for Team Bahrain Victorious yesterday in the opening stage of the Czech Tour 2024.
The Italian was classified ninth overall at the end of the 151.2-kilometre leg, which took place between the cities of Prostejov and Ostrava.
Bruttomesso finished amongst the leaders’ group, which was spearheaded by stage winner Luke Lamperti of Soudal Quick-Step.
Bahrain Victorious’ Cameron Scott of Australia and Dusan Rajovic of Serbia followed in 24th and 25th, respectively, while Italian Nicolo Buratti came 52nd. Finlay Pickering of Great Britain was 64th, Lukasz Wisniowski of Poland was 127th, and Bahrain’s very own Ahmed Madan came 143rd.
Following yesterday’s result, Bruttomesso was third in the ranking of best young rider for the race’s white jersey.
The Czech Tour continues today with the second of four stages. It will cover a distance of 172.7km, starting from Zlin and ending in Pustevny. Formerly known as the SAZKA Tour, the race has grown into a prestigious international road cycling event in the Czech Republic.
It has been held as part of the UCI Europe Tour’s first category since 2015, and it showcases the beauty and the challenge of Czech landscapes.
