American politician Nikki Haley's supposed show of solidarity with Israel during her recent visit to the country has caused a major backlash on social media.
During her visit to the sites near Israel's northern border with Lebanon, Haley was photographed signing an IDF shell where she wrote, "Finish Them. America ♥️ Israel Always. Nikki Haley"
The photograph was posted on X on Tuesday by Danny Danon, a member of the Israeli parliament and former ambassador to the United Nations, accompanying Haley on her visit.
Haley's actions come at a time when Israel is engaged in a devastating military offensive in Gaza that has so far killed more than 36,000 Palestinians, an estimated 15,000 of them children.
Social media erupted in anger after the photo went viral, with many people calling the act 'disgusting'.
“Nikki Haley shows who she is,” said former Human Rights Watch executive director Kenneth Roth.
“Anyone who signs a bomb is a sociopath,” said American actor John Cusack.
"While Americans watch Israel burn Gaza alive, and Palestinian children are beheaded, Nikki Haley writes love notes on bombs that drop on civilians. Let the world bear witness to your moral depravity…", Dr. Omar Suleiman wrote on X.
Alon-Lee Green wrote, "Dear Americans, Nikki Haley visited us today: She went to the West Bank settlements and then went to sign on a bomb "finish them". Just disgusting. Can you please take her back? We already have one Ben Gvir & we don't need your filthy death promoting politicians as well. Thanks!"
