AT the beginning of this year, the Israeli Government expressed anger at the release of the movie Tantura which documented the 1948 massacre of Palestinian civilians by Israeli troops who overran their village.
The director of the movie was an Israeli and the subject matter was based on the academic research of another Israeli called Teddy Katz who submitted a thesis for his Master’s Degree on Middle East History at Haifa University.
The thesis was titled: ‘The Exodus of the Arabs from Villages at the foot of Southern Mount Carmel’ and it concluded that the Israeli reaction was disproportionately aggressive.
Their objection was not to the facts described in the movie but that the movie contributed to the distortion of an image that the Zionists have carefully tried to promote which is that Israel is just a meek lamb surrounded by Arab predators … and that it is Israel who is seeking peace with neighbours hell bent on its extinction.
This is the fake Israeli narrative promulgated by universal Zionism over the past 75 years through unsubstantiated academic research based on fake documents that have been disseminated worldwide with the help of study centres, news stations and the movies. Israel has invested billions of dollars on twisting facts and misleading the global community, particularly in the West.
Following the condemnation of the movie, the events of October 7, 2023 have led to the addition of yet another tragic episode for the Palestinians.
National resistance has helped awaken the entire world and draw attention to the Palestinian Cause.
Many world leaders thought that the Palestinian Cause no longer existed on the agenda of regional conflicts and that the Palestinian people had been subdued and had accepted the status quo imposed by an occupying tyrant.
With the storming of the Al Aqsa Mosque, Israel, backed by influential Zionist media, tried to portray itself as the underdogs accusing the Resistance of atrocities against Israeli women and children.
We have since seen and watched the dramatic demise of some world news organisations that promoted fake news and lies to misguide the global community and hide heinous Israeli atrocities.
Western leaders hurried to visit the Israeli capital, showing allegiance and loyalty to the rampant Israeli regime created by the West and its leaders to promote outdated colonial doctrines.
Ironically, these leaders have forgotten the bloody history of the Zionist gangs who shed the blood of Western citizens. The British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, for example, stayed in the King David Hotel in Jerusalem on October 19 – a hotel which witnessed the slaughter of dozens of British citizens by a Zionist terrorist group, a fact which some people have tried to hide or even erase from the history books, but which will always be a matter of record.
Today, after weeks of brutal Israeli aggression against Gaza, the world community has been surprised at the resilience of the Palestinian people against Israel’s ruthless military machine.
Its prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his army have committed war crimes with the slaughter of women and children and, in addition, have devastated the infrastructure, hospitals and buildings of Gaza. They have, however, failed to break the resistance of Palestinians who have stood firm on their rights as citizens to their land … the land of their fathers and forefathers.
The facts on the ground have refuted Israel’s lies and have highlighted the extent of the massacre of more than 11,000 Palestinian civilians, 70 per cent of whom were innocent women and children.
More than 730 families have been exterminated in what can only be described as a heinous genocide. The World Health Organisation recorded not less than 137 Israeli raids against medical facilities in Gaza, in addition to targeting the press and media crews, to prevent them from exposing these Israeli atrocities.
Apart from the civilian casualties, the military losses have shown that Israel has failed to achieve an all-out victory over the Resistance, with the occupiers making false claims concerning casualties to cover the huge losses Israel has suffered on a daily basis in terms of its soldiers and military machinery.
This has led one of Israel’s leading media experts, Amos Harel, to acknowledge that Hamas in Gaza is currently nowhere near surrendering or collapsing, despite the unprecedented devastating Israeli attacks.
“Israel formally declared war on Hamas while it was suffering from a massive shortfall and failure in both intelligence and readiness on October 7,” he said in an article in the Israeli daily newspaper Haaretz. “…by the time the Israeli troops regained power and escalated the fight, around 1,200 Israeli soldiers were killed and around 240 others captured,” he added. “Since then, what has been, or will be achieved, is nothing but a desperate attempt to chase an enemy who spread fire and made rapid progress.”
According to the Israeli media, 38 soldiers have been killed and around 270 injured (with more than 100 soldiers seriously injured) since the in-land battle commenced between October 27 and November 10. However, the Qassam Brigades have stated on a number of occasions that Israel had suffered terrible losses and that these losses were greater than those announced by Tel Aviv.
In my opinion, the worst defeat suffered by Israel is that the lies told by the Zionists have been dramatically exposed as such to the people of the free world who have now witnessed the moral and humanitarian violations committed by Israel.
We have seen an outpouring of humanitarian as well as media support from the people of the world, especially from Europe and the US, including many Jews.
Today Americans are openly addressing the world through their TV channels and accusing Israel of spreading fallacious information over the past 75 years in relation to the Palestinian issue.
Israel’s distortion of the facts has been further compounded by its attempts to mislead the Jewish people and convince them that Israel has the right to plunder, loot, slaughter and displace Palestinians.
The horrific scenes of slaughtered children massacred by Israelis have forced some Western leaders of good conscience to speak truthfully. The Irish Prime Minister, Leo Varadkar, in one of the sharpest criticisms by a leader of a European Union country, described the Israeli aggression against Gaza as close to a ‘vendetta’.
Irish Deputy Premier Micheal Martin added: “Ireland is a firm supporter of the International Criminal Court when it comes to the Israel – Hamas conflict”.
Norway’s Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eddy said that the situation in Gaza was not acceptable, referring to the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the besieged strip.
Mr Eddy pointed out that the conflict in Gaza will lead to a grave deterioration of humanitarian conditions, referring to the Shifa Medical Centre where Israel’s atrocities have exceeded all acceptable limits.
In solidarity with Gaza, Canadian Parliament member Laurel Collins brought her infant child to a parliamentary session to earnestly request parliament members to halt the Israeli bombings on the Gaza Strip with immediate effect. “We can’t ignore this humanitarian tragedy taking place in Gaza. More than 50,000 pregnant women are left without medical care, water, food or electricity, and 500 women give birth every day in the middle of terrible chaos, where caesarean operations are performed without anaesthesia, and women are effectively exposed to abortion,” she added.
Former US Senator Bernie Sanders said that Israel’s haphazard bombing has killed thousands of innocent people in Gaza, and hospitals and refugee camps had been targeted. “This must stop now,” he added.
In the meantime, I believe that the sacking of British Home Secretary Suella Braverman, following her sharp criticism against the way the police in London treated a march in support of Palestinians, is further clear evidence of the public pressure that forced the British Government to take a decision that has no precedence in the history of the British Conservative Party.
The only comparison took place in 1956 when British State Minister for Foreign Affairs Sir Anthony Nantong resigned in protest against the Tripartite Aggression against Egypt. However, this was a resignation and not a sacking of a Home Secretary because of the Palestinian Cause. In this latest case, it was an embarrassment for the government as this action was not in support of the Palestinians.
As Arabs, we must look at the facts and not pass judgement on the West as a whole. There is a line separating the Western governments and their people and we should work hard to deliver our message to the people of the world, most of whom have now been chanting ‘Liberty for Palestine’.
The voices of the Peoples have forced leading media establishments such as BBC and CNN to change their policies. Previously, they never accepted any criticism against Israel, but today I can say that they do so, not out of conviction, but to protect their own reputations as leading media establishments who have been linked with global Zionism.
Today, we have to appreciate the role of X (formerly known as Twitter) which has allowed people with a conscience to use this powerful social media tool to disseminate facts about the Israeli atrocities committed against innocent people in Gaza, thus forcing media outlets to make major changes to their policy of only promoting Israel’s fake news and blatant lies.
The Palestinian Resistance has not only encouraged people from the West - led by US nationals - to support the rights of the Palestinians but has also helped these same voices to raise criticism of their own governments for diverting taxes to support Israel’s war machinery, which in turn has deprived citizens from medical and health services.
It is these citizens, through their taxes, who are funding Israel.
US Foreign Office and Foreign Secretary Antony Blinken himself confessed that there were some internal issues of disagreement with regard to the approach of the US administration, led by Joe Biden, towards the Israel – Hamas conflict.
Mr Blinken wrote in an email to his staff, saying: “I know that suffering from this crisis has a huge personal impact on many of you. The pain, which is associated with seeing the daily photos of infants, children, old people and women, in addition to other suffering civilians, is extremely painful. I feel it myself.
“Some people in the US Foreign Office may disagree with the approach we adopt, or may have different views on what we could have done much better. We have organised many forums in Washington to listen to you, and we have urged managers and teams to conduct open dialogue in electronic sites openly all over the world in order to be able to listen to your comments and ideas. We have asked our senior leaderships to allow us to continue this plan.”
Some may believe that I rely too heavily on the West but, in fact, I rely on us, the Arabs. We have vast capabilities and potential that may look limited at this time but, in the future, can destroy the Zionist hegemony over the Western mind by imposing changes and varying the world order through our global activity and connections.
In fact, it has always been Arabs who have reached out their hands in peace over many years, whilst Israel, and its leaders, have declared war on peace.
What we see today are the statements of Israeli officials that confirm their racism.
Their culture minister said he wanted to drop an atomic bomb on the Palestinians, and their finance minister said he wanted to evacuate Palestinians and send them to Western countries after, according to him, Arab states had refused to host them. Their prime minister has also threatened any Arab country showing support to the Palestinians. Is this a country seeking peace with its neighbours?
There is always hope that with the non-stop support for the Palestinian Resistance, the struggle will continue to restore Palestinian rights. Our pens will continue to write about the honourable story of the piece of Arab land taken by force at the hands of Zionists with Western blessings. The pure blood of our sons will continue watering the thirsty holy land falsely claimed by Israel.
We also believe that amongst the premature babies, many of whom have paid a dear price with their lives because of the atrocities committed by Israel, a loyal child will survive, with a deep love for Palestine, despite the Israeli bombardment using US and British-made tanks, aircraft and missiles. He, or she, will live to successfully campaign to protect the legitimate rights of the people against the illegal claims by the Israelis.
