HORSERACING – EIGHT cups, all sponsored by National Bank of Bahrain (NBB), will be up for the taking today at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir.
Three of the races offer BD4,000 in total prize money, including the NBB Cup in race eight, the NBB Prestige Cup in race six, and the NBB Sprint Cup in race three.
The eighth race for the NBB Cup will be held across 2,400m with four imported horses in contention. They included the Al Mohamediya Racing pair of Knight of Honour and Tartan Chief, along with Abdulla Fawzi Nass’ Bleak and Yousif Ahmed Alboainain’s Count Rostov.
In the day’s sixth race, featuring a distance of 1,800m, for the NBB Prestige Cup, seven imported horses are in the field, including the Mohamediya quartet of Returnofthemac, Elwasme, Vegas Jack, and Ahdab. Victorious’ Laser Guided will also be running, along with Al Mallah Racing’s Prince Elzaam, and HH Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Isa Al Khalifa’s West Suffolk.
The NBB Sprint Cup in race three will be over 1,000m, with nine imported contenders set to line up at the start. Mohamediya have three entrants, including Devaste, Edward Cornelius, and Mr Irrelevant, while the others are Inveigle owned by Sayed Jawad Marzooq, Boomshalaa for S&S Racing, Indispensable for Al Afoo Racing, Four Wheel Drive for Al Qaseer Racing, Tribal Hunter for Al Remah Stable, and Hamish Macbeth for Al Bufalah and Al Tawash Syndicate.
Elsewhere in today’s card, the NBB Arabian Cup is on offer in race one, the NBB Go Cup in race two, the NBB Apprentice Cup in race four, the NBB Mile Cup in race five, and the NBB Thara’a Cup in race seven.
All are welcome to watch the action at REHC. The sixth meeting of the 2024-25 season begins from 3.30pm and continues until after 6pm under lights.
