In a nightmare scenario, the back of a woman's head 'exploded' due to air pressure after having recently undergone surgery.
TikToker Veronica recounted her experience on October 20 and what happened after the flight began to ascend, causing some of the stitches in her neck to pop open.
She recounted her story in multiple videos posted on social media.
"We were on the plane, everything's chill, we'd gone to sleep because we'd been travelling since 2am and I wake up and I'm in a lot of pain," she said.
"I can feel pain all around here [behind her left ear], like my actual ear was in pain as well and I was like, 'How is that possible? I can't even feel my ears yet.'"
"Everything was really hurting, I got up, went to the toilet and I heard this audible pop," she continued, saying that the stitch behind her ear had popped open, and was bleeding.
"Obviously it was blood but, I don't know if anyone's had lipo, the fluid that comes out of you is like yellowy with blood and bits," she explained.
She quickly put pressure on the wound using some tissues, but nothing could be done about the situation as the flight was already midway through the journey.
Veronica had to keep holding her head until the plane landed and has been recovering since the incident.
Her videos show her wearing a headbrace, with some bruising across her face, but otherwise appears to be in good health.
