FOOTBALL – THE semi-finals of the 2024-25 His Majesty the King’s Cup football tournament take place tomorrow and Thursday.
Tomorrow evening, Sitra face off with Riffa, to be followed on Thursday by Muharraq locking horns with two-time defending Nasser bin Hamad Bahrain Premier League champions Al Khaldiya. Both fixtures are scheduled for 7pm kick-offs at the Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town.
Sitra secured their spot after taking down last year’s winners Al Ahli 2-1, while Riffa edged past a battling East Riffa 7-6 on penalties in a nail-biting derby match played at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town. The game remained deadlocked at 2-2 after extra-time.
Muharraq booked their berth in the last four with a 2-1 triumph over Al Shabab, while Khaldiya romped past Al Hala 6-2 in their quarter-final contest.
The His Majesty the King’s Cup is Bahrain’s richest annual football tournament. It is a single-elimination competition featuring sides from both the Nasser bin Hamad Bahrain Premier League and the Bahrain Second Division.
