FOOTBALL – ACTION in the 2024-25 Nasser Bin Hamad Bahrain Premier League resumes tonight with two matches on schedule.
Following a lengthy break due to the participation of the kingdom’s senior men’s football national team in round three of Asian qualification for the Fifa World Cup 2026, the pair of games are postponed fixtures from the third week of play.
Two-time defending champions Al Khaldiya will take on Al Ahli at 9.30pm at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town, while Riffa will take on Sitra in this evening’s other fixture at the National Stadium in Riffa. Both games are scheduled for simultaneous 9.30pm kick-offs.
Heading into the pair of games, Muharraq are currently atop the league table after 12 games with 29 points, only two ahead of Khaldiya, who have a game in hand. Riffa are third on 20 markers, while Al Shabab are fourth on 18, tied with Al Malkiya but with a superior goal difference.
Najma complete the top half of the standings with 17 points in sixth place, while seventh through 12th, respectively, are Sitra (16 points), Bahrain Club (15), Al Ahli (13), Manama (10), A’ali (6), and East Riffa (4).
