CYCLING – TEAM Bahrain Victorious rider Fred Wright secured a top 10 finish in the 116th Milano-Sanremo elite men’s road race yesterday in Italy.
The single-day event was part of the 2025 calendar of the UCI World Tour – the most prestigious international series under the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).
Wright finished 10th overall after a gruelling 289 kilometres amongst a high-quality field of more than 170 competitors.
The Briton was part of the group that trailed the top three by 43 seconds, which was led by winner Mathieu van der Poel of Alpecin-Deceuninck team.
Bahrain Victorious teammate Edoardo Zambanini from Italy followed in 18th as the team’s best two finishers in the race.
Australian Robert Stannard was 50th, Italian Damiano Caruso came 80th, Slovenian Matej Mohoric finished 100th, Andrea Pasqualon of Italy was 108th, and Pole Kamil Gradek finished 123rd.
