FOOTBALL – GENERAL Command Camp team won the title after defeating Royal Bahrain Naval Force (RBNF) 5-4 in the final of the Royal Artillery Ramadan Football Championship for Officers yesterday.
Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa attended the final match of the eighth edition of the championship, held at the Royal Artillery Stadium.
The championship is organised annually by the Royal Artillery.
Shaikh Mohammed highlighted the kingdom’s sporting progress and achievements across various fields, emphasising the vital role of sports in enhancing well-being, developing social skills, and fostering values of co-operation and discipline.
He commended the Bahrain Defence Force for its support of the tournament and praised the Royal Artillery’s efforts in organising the prominent competition.
Shaikh Mohammed congratulated the winners and organisers on the tournament and wished them continued success in future competitions.
He also honoured the players of both teams in the final, as well as the tournament’s best player, top scorer, best goalkeeper, and the referees.
To mark the occasion, Shaikh Mohammed was presented with a commemorative gift by the Commander of the Royal Artillery.
Major General Mohammed Abdullah Al Ahmad, Commander of the General Command Camp, Major General Shaikh Khalifa bin Hassan Al Khalifa, Commander of the Royal Artillery, Major General Isa Mohammed Al Rumaihi, Commander of the Royal Special Force, Rear Admiral Ahmed Mohammed Al Binali, Commander of the Royal Bahrain Naval Force, and a number of unit commanders and senior Bahrain Defence Force officers also attended the event.
