BASKETBALL – MUHARRAQ outclassed Al Najma 92-82 in their round 13 clash of the 2024-25 Zain Bahrain Basketball League.
The victors led for the entire game and went ahead by as many as 14 points en route to the final whistle.
Wayne Chism scored 20 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, and dished out five assists to lead six Muharraq players in double figures. Mohammed Juma’a added 19 off the bench, while Sir’Dominic Pointer contributed 15 points and eight assists while Bader Abdulla Malabes had 13.
Mohammed Hussain and Tyler Wilkerson had 21 points apiece for Najma, while Robert Lowery had 17.
With the result, Muharraq improved to an 11-2 win-loss record in the Premier League, while Najma dropped to a 5-7 mark.
In another Premier League game, three-time defending champions Manama used a strong second-half to claim a 114-84 rout of Al Hala.
The game was tied at 48-apiece at the break, but then Manama came alive in the third to take a 77-67 lead into the final frame, where they erupted for 37 points to finish the game with a winning margin of 30 markers – their largest of the night.
Tony Carr had a triple-double of 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 13 assists to pace Manama, Chad Brown contributed 16 points and 10 boards, and Subah Hussain finished with 15.
Alex Young posted 27 to lead Hala in the loss, while Ahmed Bin Dainah had 22.
Manama claimed their 11th win in 12 outings while handing Hala their eighth defeat to go with four wins.
In another round 13 contest, Al Ahli beat Al Ettihad 79-54.
Ahmed Alderazi had 20 points, including six three-pointers, to spearhead the victors, while Sadiq Shukrallah added 14 and Dominique Sutton had 10 points and 15 rebounds.
Hassan Fahad had nine points as the scoring leader for Ettihad, who had no players in double figures.
Ahli claimed their sixth victory in 12 games while Ettihad suffered their 13th straight loss to remain winless in the Premier League.
Action continues tomorrow with a League B affair between Bahrain Club and Nuwaidrat.
