Sports Festival – THE third edition of the Alba Sports Festival was launched yesterday.
Organised by Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) in co-operation with the International Sports Academies Federation (ISAF), the festival is recognised as one of the premier sporting events in the kingdom.
Taking place at the Alba Sports Club in the Al Buheer area of East Riffa, it brings together an atmosphere of competitive sports, community engagement and family entertainment, making it an ideal platform to strengthen bonds among participating athletes while attracting families to watch and cheer on their children across various sports.
Yesterday also marked the commencement of competitions in most of the 18 sports featured in the festival. These include football, basketball, volleyball, swimming, athletics, tennis, bowling, darts, squash, Energy Zone Combat, paddle, billiards and snooker, Sabakha, walkathon, powerlifting, fencing, strongest man, as well as arm wrestling and calisthenics.
The organising committee aims to offer as many athletes as possible the opportunity to participate, while enhancing the spirit of competition and developing athletic skills.
The festival has witnessed significant participation from Bahraini players and residents of the kingdom, along with a large number of athletes from the Gulf region, Arab countries, and various parts of the world. This diversity reflects the rich cultural and sporting heritage of the event.
The first day’s competitions were marked by excitement and enthusiasm as players demonstrated their readiness for the challenges across different sports.
The first day also saw tremendous enthusiasm from sports fans and accompanying family members and friends of players.
The event concludes today with a closing ceremony, expected to be attended by the Alba CEO and ISAF chairman MP Ahmed Al Salloom, several officials from Alba, and a number of prominent sports figures who have been invited to join the final celebrations.
