There aren’t many parks I haven’t visited in Bahrain, so I was thankful for the recommendation of Salmaniya Garden. A lovely green spot in the heart of Manama.
Arriving mid-afternoon, we made use of one of the ample parking spaces available and entered the garden. After a short meander around, we found a secluded patch of shade to settle in.
Our toddler, initially mesmerised by a lizard basking in the sun, quickly graduated to exploring the labyrinthine paths, disappearing amongst the vibrant flowerbeds. As a family, we then relaxed on a patch of grass with our picnic blanket and our packed lunch in tow.
Children enjoy the playground area, equipped with various play structures and activities. There is an added bonus of sand underfoot, which is ideal for children as they whizz down the slide, enjoy the swings or the seesaws.
The park is adjacent to two busy roads, the trees on the perimeter do a great job of insulating some of the noise of the traffic and it’s connected to another park – Andalus Gardens – by a pedestrian bridge.
The spaces are well maintained and popular with both tourists and locals alike. If you’re looking for a great place to relax in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Manama, then this is the park for you!
