Isa Town Secondary School and Al Fateh Secondary School were off to a great start in Nasser bin Hamad Football Tournament for Secondary Schools, defeating Al Hekma International School 8-1 and Britus International School 6-1, respectively.
Organised by the Education Ministry, the event is sponsored by National Bank of Bahrain and Bahrain Cinema Company.
Isa Town Secondary School and Al Hekma International School played at A’ali Club’s football field, and it took the winners only 15 minutes to take the lead with Musaab Abdullah’s well-taken penalty kick.
As their opponents’ energy level was significantly dropping, Abdullah Ibrahim doubled Isa Town school’s lead in the 35th minute as the teams headed into the break.
Rashid Al Basri starred for the winners in the second half, scoring a hat-trick, while Abdullah Ibrahim, Ammar Al Basri and Yasser Mohammed scored one each to complete the rout.
Meanwhile, Saif Ahmed scored Al Hekma’s consolation goal. Rashid was named the player of the match.
Al Fateh Secondary School proved their impressive teamwork by having six different players on the scoresheet en route to breezing past their opponents at Isa Town Club’s football field.
The scorers for the winners were Ahmed Al Dooseri, Ali Sa’ad, Mohammed Fadel, Talal Abdulaziz, Mushari Abdulaziz and Nasser Awad.
Britus International School’s goal was scored by Hussain Nader.
Ahmed was presented the best player award in the second match.
