Kuwait Central Prison was searched after inmates posted a photograph of themselves live on the social media app, Snapchat.
The Special Forces confiscated a large number of mobile phones and Wi-Fi devices, during a raid conducted after the incident.
A security source said that clashes happened between the officers and inmates who tried to resist the confiscation of their phones.
