His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince Prime Minister, stressed the importance of Bahrain’s ongoing development projects, such as the Sports City, in supporting the national economy and its competitiveness in line with the kingdom’s comprehensive development, led by His Majesty King Hamad.
HRH Prince Salman was speaking yesterday as he chaired a meeting of the Higher Urban Planning Committee held remotely.
The committee discussed plans for Sports City, noting its status as a strategic project and destination for regional and international sporting events and championships.
The committee approved the general project plan and assigned the Urban Planning and Development Authority to complete detailed studies related to the project.
Sports City is one of many projects in the Southern Governorate complementing Bahrain International Circuit and Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre.
Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s representative for charity work and youth affairs Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and members of the committee attended the meeting.
