Doha: RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) achieved a milestone with its delivery of 500th long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo to CPC Corporation in Taiwan.
The 500th LNG cargo was loaded aboard CPC's Taitar (TaiwanQatar) No. 4 vessel at Ras Laffan port under the long-term sales and purchase agreement (SPA) between CPC Corporation Taiwan and Ras Laffan Liquefied Natural Gas Company Limited (II), RasGas said in a press release.
"As a long term LNG supplier to CPC, RasGas is pleased to achieve this major milestone with our long-standing partners," said RasGas Chief Marketing and Shipping Officer Khalid Sultan Al Kuwari. "We have come a long way since signing our first ever SPA with CPC in 2005.
Last year, we extended the partnership to joint corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities with CPC through the 'Energising Education' initiative. We look forward to continuing to grow our relationship with CPC and the people of Taiwan even further."
In 2011, Ras Laffan Liquefied Natural Gas Company Limited (3) and (CPC) signed a second long-term supply of LNG from RasGas which increased the annual long term sales to over five million tons per year to CPC and Taiwan. In addition, RasGas has delivered 72 cargoes, approximately 4.4 million tons of LNG to CPC on spot basis since 2007 to date.
RasGas is a Qatari joint stock company established in 2001 by Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil RasGas Inc. It acts as the operating company for and on behalf of the owners of the LNG projects RL, RL (II) and RL3 (project owners).
