Riyadh: The Saudi authorities have unveiled a plan to open 45 movie theatres by 2020, according to Okaz.
General Commission of Audiovisual Media (GCAM) chief executive officer Bader Alzahrani announced the plan to boost investment in the entertainment sector.
Saudi Arabia has launched the theme Quality of Life Program which aims at developing the entertainment sector, including the opening of movie theatres across the country.
Under the programme, 350 cinemas will open in Saudi Arabia, with more than 2,500 screens. The authorities are hoping to create more than 30,000 jobs in the sector.
Alzahrani will be keynote speaker at Cinema Build KSA forum, which will be organised on April 14-15 in Riyadh. The Eyes of Cities will co-ordinate with the Great Minds Event Management to organise the forum.
The event will also reveal a wide range of new building solutions and equipment used in developing future cinemas, multiplexes and malls to serve as a key contributor to the industry.
