Dubai-based supermarket Spinneys has opened its first supermarket to be powered by solar energy at The Villa, Centro Mall, a unique neighbourhood mall in the Emirate.
More than six per cent of the mall’s power will be produced through a grid solar panel system and a specially designed solar water heating system for the mall’s heating requirements.
Measuring 20,265 sq ft, the new store at The Villa, Centro Mall will create 55 new jobs for the local community and will be its 54th store in the region, bringing a convenient, one-stop shop for great-tasting, quality food.
Open seven days a week from 7am to 11pm, the new supermarket will offer an in-store bakery, fresh cold and hot deli, freshly baked breads, tasty fruits and vegetables, mixed salads and every day staples.
Matt Frost, CEO, said: “We’re delighted to be opening a new store at The Villa, Centro Mall to bring a fresh food experience to the local community. Spinneys recognises the importance of sustainability in the region and this will be the first Spinneys store to operate using solar energy. We hope to pave the path to a sustainable future with a number of environmentally friendly initiatives soon to be announced at Spinneys.” – TradeArabia News Service
