Muscat: Rare Omani artifacts are being showcased at the newly-opened Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum in Saadiyat Island in Oman.
These include mainly a collection of silver coins dating back to the early Islamic era and an incense burner from the 7th century, reported Times of Oman.
Omani National museum lent the rare artifacts to the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority under a two-year agreement signed between the two sides.
The archeological authorities in Oman excavated more than 400 silver Dirhams in 2005 at Al Waqbah village.
“The rare incense burner, which was found in the area of Al Baleed, dates back to the period between the sixth and seven century”, said Times of Oman quoting museum officials.
