BADMINTON – BAHRAIN Paralympic Committee president Shaikh Mohammed bin Duaij Al Khalifa expressed pride in the success of the Bahrain 2025 International Paralympic Badminton Championship, held at Isa Bin Rashid Sports Hall with the participation of elite athletes from around the world.
Shaikh Mohammed said that hosting the tournament reflects the kingdom’s vision of becoming a regional and global hub for distinguished sporting events, particularly those supporting people of determination. He noted that Bahrain has repeatedly demonstrated its capability to host international-standard competitions, earning the trust of global sports federations and organisations.
He highlighted the tournament’s wider impact beyond sports, noting its economic, tourism and development dimensions. The kingdom saw a boost in tourism during the event, with delegations from 16 countries contributing to increased activity in hotels, restaurants, and transport services, alongside partnerships with national companies across various sectors.
Shaikh Mohammed noted the tournament as a platform for people of determination to demonstrate their abilities and active role in society, noting their perseverance and high-level performances as proof that disability drives, rather than hinders, excellence.
Shaikh Mohammed noted that the tournament supports sustainable development goals and reaffirmed the Bahrain Paralympic Committee’s commitment to incorporating them across its programmes. He thanked all governmental and private entities involved, praised the professionalism of national teams in organising the event, and attributed the success to joint efforts and national partnership. He also wished continued progress for Bahraini sport, especially for people of determination, internationally.
