A grocery store employee was arrested and referred to the central prison after charges of blackmailing a 13-year-old girl in Hawalli, Kuwait.
Reportedly, the incident began when the girl allegedly tried to steal some candy but was caught by the employee, who then proceeded to detain, extort, and intimidate her.
The employee confronted her, forcibly took money from her bag, and threatened to report her to the police unless she returned to him every day and stayed out of sight of the store's security cameras. Alarmed, the girl screamed, which prompted bystanders to intervene.
The father of the girl was alerted by neighbours who found her crying and in distress, prompting him to call authorities.
The employee confessed to his crimes after questioning and was referred to the central prison on charges of blackmail.
