Asian Football Confederation (AFC) president and Fifa first vice-president Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa also held meetings on the sidelines of the 35th AFC Congress in Malaysia, with a number of presidents and representatives of national football associations.
The presidents and representatives of national associations included Jordan Football Association president Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, Kuwait Football Association acting president Sheikh Ahmad Al Yousif Al Sabah, Lebanon Football Association president Hachem Haidar, Korea Football Association president Chung Mong-gyu, Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran president Mehdi Taj, Turkmenistan Football Federation president Guwançmuhammet Owekow, Japan Football Association president Tsuneyasu Miyamoto, Football Association of Hong Kong, China vice-president Eric Fok Kai, and Football Association of Brunei Darussalam acting president Bengiran Haji, as well as the first vice-presidents of the national associations of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.
Shaikh Salman emphasised the importance of ongoing meetings within the Asian football family to discuss ways to enhance productive co-operation between the continental federation and the national associations, ultimately benefiting the development of football across the continent.
