GOLF – DP World Tour legend Pablo Larrazabal registered yesterday one of the highlights so far of this year’s Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship – a hole-in-one on the par-three second hole at The Royal Golf Club.
Of his remarkable achievement, the Spaniard said: “I had 164 metres straight into me (on the second) – usually I hit 177m with a six iron. We planned a punchy six iron in the middle of the flag. It’s great to suddenly see the ball go in.
“I have three hole-in-ones on the DP World Tour, two on the Challenge Tour, and one in a practice round at Valderrama, so six great ones.
“I don’t try to entertain people; I try to have fun myself and by having fun you entertain. The Captain of the club was my pro-am partner for two years, we had a lot of fun in the pro-ams.
“He was on the first when I missed the birdie putt, and then the second shot of mine he saw went in. It was great to do it in front of him.”
