GOLF – The 2025 Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship holds its official opening ceremony this evening at The Royal Golf Club.
Anticipation is rising as the stars of the DP World Tour arrived in the kingdom yesterday to kick start preparations for the highly anticipated DP World Tour event.
The excitement begins tonight with a spectacular inauguration, which will feature royal attendance.
Following the resounding success of last year’s curtain-raising showcase, organisers have set out to ensure another unforgettable experience that reflects Bahrain’s growing reputation as a global sports destination, while celebrating its rich cultural heritage.
The tournament will bring together a world-class field from all over the world including defending champion Dylan Frittelli of South Africa, and Major winners Padraig Harrington, Jimmy Walker, and Patrick Reed.
Fans can also look forward to seeing Alejandro Del Rey, fresh off his victory at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship in the UAE over the weekend, and a host of other Ryder Cup stars such as Robert Karlsson, Rafa Cabrera Bello, Nicolas Colsaerts, Jamie Donaldson, Ross Fisher, and Bernd Wiesberger; and DP World Tour winners Thorbjorn Olesen, Jorge Campillo, John Parry, Johannes Veerman, Elvis Smylie, Laurie Canter, and Romain Langasque.
There will also be three Bahrainis competing, including Yaseen Le Falher, who secured a spot as the leading local in last year’s Bahrain Amateur Open; Ali Al Kowari, the top-ranked Bahraini in last year’s King Hamad Trophy; and Khalifa Duaij Alkaabi, a Bahrain Golf Association qualifier.
In addition to the elite competition on the greens, the championship promises an exciting line-up of off-course highlights in the Championship Village, designed to entertain families, friends, and fans of all ages.
Visitors can explore the craft markets, experience Bahraini culture through falcon displays and pottery activities, or capture memories at the AI Photobooth and Instagrammable Walls.
For thrill-seekers, the 100-metre zip lines provide an adrenaline rush, while families can enjoy the soft play kids zone, mini golf, and inflatable play area.
Gamers can head to the PlayStation zone, and food enthusiasts can indulge in a culinary journey featuring global cuisines and traditional Bahraini flavours.
With roaming entertainers and two giant screens to catch live action, the Championship Village ensures there’s something for everyone to enjoy, making it an unmissable weekend for fans and families alike.
In addition to free general admission, elevated and premium experiences are also available. These include Ticket+, which is available on the Entertainer, offering preferential viewing and access to a dedicated bar, and the Championship Chalet, which includes premium food and beverages. Both options provide spectacular views of the pristine 18th green, where the most dramatic moments of the tournament will unfold.
