GOLF – RASHED Saeed Al Kaabi edged ahead of Nadia Schwerm to win the Veedol Stableford competition at Awali Golf Club.
Al Kaabi, playing off a 12 handicap, scored 45 points to emerge as the overall winner in the event, and played particularly well on the par threes. Schwerm, meanwhile, started her round with an eagle to shoot 95 gross while also in the process of scoring 45 points.
In the situation of their tie, a countback was done to determine the victor. Al Kaabi had the better back nine, which secured him first place.
Schwerm won division three, while KN Singh won division two with 38 points and Yousif Ali Al Binkhalil took division one with 41 points.
Following play, the winners were presented their respective awards by tournament director Nathan Sundaresan and Awali Golf Club captain Steve Newall.
The Black Knights competition sponsored by Blackball will be held next week at Awali Golf Club.
