Makkah - The Hira Winter events, organized by the Hira Cultural District and recently concluded in Makkah, attracted over 84,000 visitors, with highlights including the Revelation Exhibition that blended tradition and innovation by using cutting-edge technology to simulate the story of the revelation to Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him).
The exhibition featured a pavilion narrating the historical details surrounding the Cave of Hira and Khadijah bint Khuwaylid (may Allah be pleased with her), as well as a realistic depiction of the first moment of revelation.
Rare historical artifacts were also on display, including a photographed copy of the Quran manuscript of Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) and ancient stone inscriptions of Quranic verses. These elements offered visitors an extraordinary experience blending the essence of the past with the creativity of the present.
Poetic performances inspired by authentic Arab heritage were also presented. The event underscored the significance of poetry as the Arabs' diwan (repository of culture) and a tool for documenting events and emotions. Activities like poetic jousts highlighted live interaction and pride in the Arabic language and literature, adding a profound cultural dimension to visitors' experiences.
Another prominent feature was the Caravan Experience, which revived the cultural heritage of camel caravans, showcasing their pivotal role in the economic and social life of ancient Arabs.
This event recreated scenes of major trade journeys, where camels were essential for transporting goods and facilitating travel between different regions, taking visitors back to memories of ancient trade routes that once served as vital lifelines for communities.
The Challenge Zone attracted a wide audience of adventure and thrill enthusiasts, offering a variety of games combining entertainment and competition. Meanwhile, the Winter Theater delighted visitors with interactive performances, including contests and games inspired by winter traditions, providing a fun-filled experience in a unique winter atmosphere.
Alongside cultural and entertainment events, the Hira District presented a comprehensive experience through its Crafts and Heritage Industries Market. Visitors explored local products and purchased souvenirs while enjoying traditional and contemporary food and beverages, making the visit an all-encompassing blend of entertainment, culture, and shopping.
The Hira Cultural District covers approximately 67,000 square meters near Jabal Hira, one of Makkah’s most renowned landmarks. The district serves as a tourist and educational destination that bridges the past and present, drawing visitors from various nationalities and demographics. Its diverse events aim to enhance the quality of life standards and visitor experiences, aligning with the Saudi Vision 2030.
