A UK man was left bemused as soon as he tore the wrapper of his Mars bar and found the ripples missing! Anxious to know what happened, 34-year-old Harry Seager contacted Mars Wrigley UK for a comment.
The company finally responded and even gave Harry compensation for the defective chocolate: A £2 (approx BD0.96) voucher.
The whole saga started when Seager, on his way to a classic car show, stopped at a service station and bought the chocolate bar. He opened it up and noticed that the bar was completely smooth.
The Mars ripple has been a staple of the chocolate bar ever since it was created in 1932. A photo of the bar went viral when Seager posted it on the Dull Men's Club Facebook page.
On being contacted by Harry, Mars Wrigley UK clarified that this specific chocolate bar had "slipped" through the production line and assured customers that the ripple was here to stay.
They also told Seager, "We're sorry to hear about your experience. We'll make sure that your feedback is shared with our Quality Team. Please accept the enclosed £2 voucher that you can use towards a future purchase."
The chocolate company's reply has since also gone viral, with many criticising it for the low compensation it offered Seager.
Seager, on the other hand, said, "I think £2 is great; it will be two free Mars bars. Maybe they could have sent me more, but I'm not being ungrateful. I think it's amazing, after everything that's happened, that I got the £2 voucher."
