THE all-new seventh generation Nissan Patrol has been launched by Y K Almoayyed & Sons (YKA), the sole distributor of Nissan vehicles in Bahrain, marking a new chapter for the iconic and most popular vehicles on the roads of Bahrain, reports GDN client media editor Jayne Houghton.
The latest model was unveiled by Nissan Motor Company president and chief executive, Makoto Uchida, at an exclusive event held recently in Abu Dhabi.
Making its global debut, the newest iteration introduces several groundbreaking advancements – including a striking new design, a powerful V6 twin-turbo engine, a 9-speed automatic transmission and customisable adaptive air suspension for enhanced all-terrain capability.
Equipped with intuitive technologies including NissanConnect 2.0 with Google built-in, ProPILOT, and Klipsch Premium Audio System, it delivers a ‘superb driving experience, complemented by exceptional comfort in a premium cabin’, according to leading motoring reviewers.
The seventh-generation Nissan Patrol ‘seems to tick a few boxes, not least because it’s the most powerful version of the off-road leviathan yet’, highlighted Top Gear and the torquecafé website reported that the Nissan Patrol had been given ‘a modern, hi-tech makeover’ but remains the Japanese brand’s ‘most rugged and capable off-roader’.
Nissan’s signature V-motion grille takes centre stage, now wider and more integrated into the body, and flanked by enhanced Double C-shaped headlights featuring Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB) technology to ensure optimal visibility. The rear façade echoes the front grille with a full-width light bar. The Patrol’s stance is accentuated by 22-inch alloy wheels.
The car offers seven striking exterior colours. The addition of four vibrant two-tone options to the exterior colour palette offers increased personalisation.
Nissan’s thoughtful design is evident with Puddle Lamp, which auto-activates as an individual approaches the vehicle with the key fob or on unlocking the doors. The lamp illuminates a special throwback motif featuring the iconic Nissan Patrol silhouette in the desert, and the text ‘Since 1951’ signifying the SUV’s production history. This feature is a nod to the Japanese principle of omotenashi, or thoughtful hospitality, ensuring that every interaction with the Patrol feels special and welcoming.
At the heart of this powerhouse is a new 3.5-litre V6 twin turbo engine, delivering 425HP and 700Nm of torque. This marks a momentous shift from the Patrol’s outgoing V8 engine – achieving a seven per cent increase in power and a 25pc boost in torque, all while enhancing fuel efficiency by 24pc. There is also a 3.8-litre naturally aspirated V6 engine option, producing 316HP and 386Nm of torque.
Drivers can continue to tailor their drive with a selection of six distinct drive modes to choose from; standard, sand, rock, mud, eco and sport. The Patrol also introduces a 4WD transfer mode interlock system, a first for Nissan, which offers intuitive handling across various terrains.
The refreshed interior features new exquisitely quilted leather seats, with detailing inspired by the traditional Japanese woodcraft, Kumiko. The seats also feature massage functionality and eight-way adjustment capabilities.
The Nissan Patrol offers a premium audio system with 12 speakers, a biometric cooling system for optimal comfort, ample interior space, and a range of safety features. The Patrol offers a panoramic sunroof, Nasa-inspired spinal support seats for comfort, and a horizontal Piano Button E-shifter for easy gear selection. The interior features a large 28.6-inch touchscreen display with two 14.3-inch screens. Rear passengers have access to dual 12.8-inch screens for streaming content or playing games.
