Bahrain has ranked among the top countries in cybersecurity.
The fifth edition of the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) 2024 ranks Bahrain as one of the top Tier 1 – Role-modelling countries that has achieved a score of 95 to 100.
The rankings have been issued by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and measures the commitment of countries to cybersecurity.
National Centre for Cybersecurity chief executive officer Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa said the top ranking and high indicators reflect the level of protection of data, networks and advanced infrastructure in the kingdom.
The index measures the commitment of countries to cybersecurity across five pillars, namely: Legal, Technical, Organisational, Capacity Development and Co-operation.
The GCI, launched in 2015 by the ITU, seeks to help countries identify areas of improvement and encourage them to act in building capacity and capabilities under each pillar.
