ENDURANCE HORSERACING – HIS Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sport chairman, and Bahrain Royal Endurance Team captain Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa has announced the kingdom’s squad participating in the 160-kilometre FEI World Endurance Championship in Monpazier, France, taking place on September 7.
Shaikh Nasser will be leading the team riding his horse Everest La Majorie. Shaikh Isa bin Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa on Fizz Fageole will also be taking part, along with Jaafar Merza on Bolt De Venelles, Othman Al Awadhi on Ermine Dartagnan, and Salman Isa on Elmer de Bozouls.
Sarhan Hameed on Be Goode and Hamad Isa on Deese La Majorie were announced as spares.
Shaikh Nasser emphasised the importance of the championship, and noted the team’s consistent success on the global stage, including last year’s victory in the UAE.
He expressed confidence in the selected riders, citing their experience and skill as key to retaining the title.
More than 150 riders from around the world, representing teams from 60 countries, will participate in this event, which is expected to attract thousands of visitors.
There are various activities planned on the sidelines of the ultimate 160km race, including the official opening ceremony and teams’ presentation in the historical city centre of Monpazier, showcasing its rich history and gorgeous architecture and an exhibitors’ village open throughout the event, among others.
