In a heartwarming incident that unfolded in China, a four-year-old boy surprised his nursery school classmate with an extraordinary gift. The little boy presented gold bars worth approximately US$15,000 to the girl considering it as an engagement gift. The incident took place on December 22 in Guang’an, in the Sichuan province of southwestern China.
The girl filled with excitement, rushed home to show her parents the remarkable present she had received. However, her parents were shocked upon seeing the expensive gift. Realizing the innocence behind the act, they advised their daughter to return the gold to her classmate. Additionally, they reached out to the boy’s family who promptly apologized and explained that they had intended to preserve the gold bars of their son’s future wife.
The boy’s parents said they had told their son that the gold bars were meant for his future wife, but they didn’t expect him to secretly take them out and give them to his classmate. This incident, although amusing, serves as a reminder of the pure and innocent nature of children. It highlights the depth of friendship that can develop at such a young age. The story has captivated online audiences, who expressed their amusement and admiration for the adorable bond shared by the two children.
One user marvelled, "this little boy has guts, just casually giving away 200 grams of gold like that”. Another shared a personal experience, saying “My mother in law just gave me a bracelet, and my son asked if he could give it to his classmate because it looks nice. I suppose I should be grateful he asked me first”.
Instances like this are not entirely uncommon. Last year in May, another young boy in China took his mother’s gold bangle to gift a girl in his kindergarten. The boy’s mother was cautioned by his teacher to be cautious with her jewellery. When she questioned her son about the incident, he explained that he wanted to give it as a gift to his friend.
