CRAFTY creations will be up for grabs this Saturday at a popular community fundraiser for charities across the kingdom.
The Snowflake Craft Fair, which is organised by the American Women’s Association (AWA) and held under the patronage of Shaikha Thajba bint Salman Al Khalifa, will feature an array of goodies including home-made soaps and bath bombs, macramé, art pieces, holiday gifts, abayas and caftans, and tasty treats too from 136 vendors.
“There will be several stalls set up by the AWA with items made by members for sale,” said AWA crafts chairperson Amanda Al Salaiti.
“During the past year, the craft group in particular has worked hard to produce items for sale.
“Among the wonderful things available will be household decor, soaps, handcrafted items, jewellery, fashion, as well as lots of arts and crafts. The event will also include a variety of food vendors who will offer a wide range of delicious treats and food provided by the members of the bake shop based on their culinary expertise.
“This is AWA’s largest fundraiser of the year that supports 30 local charities and organisations. Every person involved in the snowflake craft fair, including the shoppers, contributes to the cause.”
The fair, which was first held in 1976, will be taking place at the Gulf Hotel Convention Centre from 11am to 7pm, with entry tickets costing BD1 and children under the age of five entering for free. All the proceeds will go to local charities.
According to Ms Al Salaiti, a generous donation was made by the vendors themselves to supply the prizes for the lucky draw. There will also be Christmas carollers serenading shoppers.
“Christmas is just around the corner, which makes the Snowflake Craft Fair the best place to get your loved ones handcrafted gifts,” added Ms Al Salaiti.
